چکیده
Spatiotemporal changes in viscoelasticity are a key component of the morphogenesis living systems. Experimental and theoretical findings suggest that cellular- tissue-scale can be understood as collective property emerging from macromolecular cellular interactions, respectively. Linking structural or material properties cells tissues, such phase transitions, to microscopic interactions their constituents, is still challenge both at experimental level. In this review, we summarize work on viscoelastic nature cytoskeletal, extracellular networks. Viscoelastic Properties of Cardiovascular Tissues
The aims of this chapter are to review the current state of knowledge regarding the viscoelastic behavior of cardiovascular tissues. We begin with a brief, general discus‐ sion of measurement and modeling of cardiovascular tissue viscoelasticity. We then review known viscoelastic behavior of arteries, veins, capillaries, blood components, the heart, and lymphatics. For each tissue type, we high...
متن کاملCharacterization of ocular tissues using microindentation and hertzian viscoelastic models.
PURPOSE The authors applied a novel microindentation technique to characterize biomechanical properties of small ocular and orbital tissue specimens using the hertzian viscoelastic formulation, which defines material viscoelasticity in terms of the contact pressure required to maintain deformation by a harder body. METHODS They used a hard spherical indenter having 100 nm displacement and 100...

RNA.DNA hybridization experiments suggest differences between the DNA from the liver and spleen of the same animal (rabbit) and between the RNAs from lymph nodes stimulated by different antigens. A larger proportion of spleen DNA than of liver DNA was complementary to the RNA isolated from antigen-stimulated lymph nodes. No difference between liver and spleen DNA was observed in hybrids formed ...
متن کاملViscoelastic Properties of Microtubule Networks
Microtubules are filamentous protein biopolymers found in eukaryotic cells. They form networks that guide active intracellular transport and support the overall cell structure. Microtubules are very rigid polymers, with persistence lengths as large as a millimeter. As such, they constitute an example of rodlike polymers, whose mechanical and rheological properties are as yet poorly understood. ...
متن کاملIV.3 Modelling the Development of Complex Tissues using Individual Viscoelastic Cells
This chapter describes a biomechanical model of individual deformable viscoelastic cells that can be arranged into tissues of various topologies. The model is based on an immersed boundary method with distributed sources and couples a continuous description of a viscous incompressible cytoplasm with the dynamics of separate elastic cells. Several key cellular processes, such as cell growth, div...
